Fort Ridgely, Fairfax, At 1 p.m. independent historian John LaBatte will examine the causes of the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, including why some Dakota wanted war while others opposed it. At 2:30 p.m. LaBatte will lead a tour of the parade grounds where he will discuss battles from August 1862. LaBatte has both Dakota and white ancestors who were involved in the war.
