Alexander Ramsey was Governor of the State of Minnesota in 1862 during the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. This special tour takes guests into the Alexander Ramsey House and focuses on the role Ramsey played in the politics and events prior to, during and after the war.
 
 
At 2 p.m. in the Carriage House, Professor Colette Hyman will speak on "Driven beyond our borders: Alexander Ramsey and The Removal of the Dakota.”
 
 
Colette Hyman is a professor of History and Women’s and Gender Studies at Winona State University. Her book, "Dakota Women’s Work: Creativity, Culture, & Exile," was published in April by the Minnesota Historical Society Press.
